Less is More week 31 Colour

Saturday means a new challenge from the South Coast in the shape of Less is More and as

it's the first Saturday of the month so we have a colour themed challenge once more and this time it is

METALLIC

We'd like to see CLEAN & SIMPLE cards with something that has a METALLIC finish to it... ink, embossing, card, charms, actual metal... come on people let's get creative!

There are some fabulous cards already submitted and Chrissie and Mandi's are inspirational as always!
I have not been very successful with metal as I always end up cutting myself! So I have resorted to using kitchen foil, folded several times and run through my cuttlebug. The folder is a cut and emboss frame but I just used the centre piece. The bells were also run through the cuttlebug and then embossed with silver EP and matted onto silver mirri.I added some silver cord but I may take it off again as I'm not too happy with it, what do you think?

Anyway thanks for taking the time to visit me and please leave a comment so I can visit you:)

I'm always a bit wary of using metal as well - sharp edges!! I like what you've done here and the silver cord is fine

What an ingenious idea to use kitchen foil Valerie, did you have to stick the layers together or did they stay together because of the embossing?...which is fab by the way.
I think the simple cord is fine, but would work equally well with or without.
Super card.
Thanks once more.

You are clever to think of folding the kitchen foil to make it thick enough to emboss - can't wait to try it! I love the addition of the silver cord.

Thanks for your comment Val - they're sew-on labels sadly but I'll only use a few and use a laundry pen for the rest! Hope you're busy knitting! Vx

Fabulous embossing Valerie, and such an elegant card - using tinfoil is a brilliant idea, and I agree with Chrissie about the cord - lovely with, or without!

Hi Val,
Thank you for your lovely comments on my card.

You asked about the Silhouette...Yes!! I would definitely recommend it. Mine is an old banger, it was one of the first ones to come out but it's paid for itself over and over. It doesn't cut chip board, but I just cut three of the same image in cardstock and glue them together to make chipboard thickness. The 'Studio' software is really easy to use and Silhouette now do coloured 12" x 12" printed paper downloads, plus thousands of designs, which include shapes similar to nesties. There are flowers, leaves, lots of boxes, card shapes....everything! These can be downloaded through 'Studio' for between 50-99 cents each, or you can subscribe and depending on the subscription you choose, your downloads are unlimited . Plus, there are thousands of freebies on the internet.
Hope this helps.
Hugs, Sasha x

Beautiful card Val.... I think most of us steer away from metal but using kitchen foil istn't a stiff as the foiling you buy....brilliant idea.

I love your card Valerie, she's really beautiful!
For my second card for these challenge I also used kitchen foil but I can't post her anymore because I alreday posted one and you can post one card for one url. I didn't know that, you can find some tags on internet but I didn't know a thing of it. So next time better!
