Less is More week 126-Lucky dip

Hi everyone, I've just popped in from the garden to post my card for Less is More. What a fabulous day, I hope it's the same where ever you are!
We had a fabulous few days away and we were so lucky with the weather in Brixham, sitting out on the terrace overlooking the harbour and over to Torquay with a G&T in my hand  ;).

We had a lovely day on Dartmoor watching the ponies and another day stopping off on the coastal path at beautiful places including Dartmouth. I'll put a couple of photos at the end if you last that long!
Friday evening was totally memorable and became my 15 mins of fame!  >:D<  We went to The Stables in Milton Keynes, set up by Johnnie Dankworth and Cleo Laine, to see Tenors UnLimited. Three amazing tenors singing a mix of opera and contemporary songs. Just before the interval one of them came down from the stage and started singing to me, he then took me on stage where one of the others danced with me and I ended up on his knee with the others sprawled on the stage in front!!! OMG a very sexy experience  8-}

Anyway I'm just about over that and enjoying being back crafting! So this week Chrissie and Jen, along with Hannelie, who is GD this month have set the following challenge:

As an acknowledgement of Hannelie's location and blog name, the challenge we have chosen for this week is
SAND
You may decide to use the colour, the texture, scenes of sandy places, sandpaper, actual sand... or wherever your imagination takes you.

I knew straight away what I was going to do as I had a set of stamps that I bought a couple of years ago that had never seen ink, so NBUS according to Darnell!
 Come and see:

Fairly obvious how I did it and the stamp set is from  Papermania .
And just a couple of Devonian snaps to follow, hope you are still awake!  I-|

Apologies for the length of this post and I hope you are still with me! Thanks for taking the time to visit and hopefully leaving a comment so that I can visit you.

Hoping for sun!

Hi everyone, well the sad news is that I didn't win the lottery!! But the goodies that I chose with my win at the Craft Barn arrived this morning:)

Hexagons may never rear their heads again for a challenge but I treated myself to a small die and as you can see the Indigoblu stamp background  is appropriate and the top stamp set contains a bee, so I'm all set ;;) I have also chosen a stamp set from Acid Drops and Whatnots which is winging it's way as we speak  :)

We are off tomorrow morning to deepest Somerset to visit my sister Karen and then Monday we are going down to Brixham to stay with friends for a few days so no crafting till next weekend!
I have been busy creating a book card for our Rock Choir leader, who is getting married next month and although I still have to add the sentiments and some more embellies I thought I'd post it now as I have nothing else to show you!!!

I used  paperclay to make the initials and the flowers, leaves and butterflies. Most of the DP is from Anna Griffin and the dies are Fleur de Lys and a MB vine.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and hopefully comment so that I can visit you:)

Less is More week 124-Theme

I nipped out to the shops this afternoon and bought a lottery ticket so I hope to have more good news for you on Wednesday;)
In the meantime I had a little play to try and get a card together for the LIM challenge which this week is HEXAGONS.
They are so on trend at the moment with stamps, dies and EF's everywhere except in my little crafting room!! I suppose I could have crafted digitally or used my Silhouette but my printer is playing up so I decided to have a go at making a template and creating a pattern with stamping on it. Come and see what happened:

Recipe:
Square linen card
SU inks, Baja breeze, Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Certainly Celery
Majestix stamps
Sentiment and footprints courtesy Debbi Moore

I put 3 hexagons together and drew round them to crate the main template and I popped the sentiment one up using pinflair.

I have also been making a book card and having bought some paper clay and molds I've been making embellishments, great fun! Hope to show that later this week :)

Thanks for visiting and hopefully leaving a comment so that I can visit you:)

What a coincidence!

Here we are at the end of another Father's day and with one very mellow husband cradling a pint of the "black stuff"! We had a great weekend with Charlie and were very lucky with the weather. It turned out to be a lovely day on Friday and we sat outside Jamie's Italian having a fab lunch and basking in the sun! Today also turned out nice after a damp start and we had a very tasty meal in a quaint village pub in the country outside Portsmouth. They had a huge garden and Charlie wore himself out haring around with grandad chasing him:)
Dom asked me to make a card for his dad and this is what I came up with:

My OH loves maps and is never happier than with me driving and him reading a map and navigating by the sun, hence the images:)

I was surprised and delighted this morning to find out that my altered dictionary page for F was chosen as the winner and I will be getting a £20 voucher for the Craft Barn. Two wins in a week, I think I'd better buy a lottery ticket:)

Yippee!

Just found out that I'm the May winner over at Less is More and I'm so excited! The sponsor is Acid Drops and Whatnots and they have such humorous stamps which I was perusing at Ally Pally and couldn't decide what to buy! Now I can't wait to see what I've won:)

We were at our local cinema this evening where they showed The Audience with Helen Mirren, live from the Gielgud theatre in London. What a great idea, cheap tickets, comfy seats, an usher selling ice cream in the interval and no late night tube home:) We were closer than if we had been front row stalls, definitely a great idea.

Enjoy the weekend, we will be in Portsmouth with Charlie:)

A big welcome to Sue who has kindly chosen my blog to follow:)

Wet, Wet, Wet!!

Evening all, a quick post for the ALPHA challenge over at The Craft Barn as we are Charlie sitting this weekend and that cuts down on my crafting time:) You can imagine how tough I find that!
Anyway back to my dictionary and the letter this week is U with no restrictions and I chose UMBRELLA. Come and see:

Have you noticed how the raindrops have buckled the paper:) The umbrella is printed on acetate and was part of a set but I don't know where from! I inked the page and framed the umbrella and added some raindrops with a paper pen.

Thanks for visiting and hopefully leaving a comment so I can visit you:)

Less is More-week 123-one layer

Hi everyone from a chilly grey day in London town! Where is the sun? I'm back in long sleeved tops and thinking how soon I can power up the heating,  so different from earlier in the week.  Thursday was lovely we had tickets for Top Hat (very slick and Hollywood) and sat out upstairs at Brasserie Blanc in Covent Garden, fab meal :)
Anyway it's definitely good weather for crafting! This week's challenge over at Less is More is the not so dreaded "one layer" and the theme is NEED FOR SPEED.
I had a rummage through my stamps and considered a Xmas one with Santa rushing through the sky but came across a freebie stamp that I'd never inked and my card was born, come and see!

Recipe:
Square scallop card
Freebie stamp set
Promarkers and white jelly roll pen
Sentiment created with xyron digital runner

This reminds me of a friend who lives to shop so it may end up as her birthday card:)

Thought I'd just leave you with a couple of Charlie's holiday pics, not that I'm a boring granny!!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit it's much appreciated:)

Wednesday 5 June 2013

Thank you!

Morning everyone just a quick post to show you a thank you card that I made for our colonial friends who have now returned to Nova Scotia. They treated us to a lovely meal on board a jazz boat cruising up and down the Thames on Sunday. What a brilliant day weather wise and the food was really good.
London looks amazing from the river and our trip took us past Battersea Park and back down to Canary Wharf, even Tower Bridge was open!
I wanted to make a card with a London theme and here it is:

Recipe:
2 square cards joined and the front flaps cut diagonally
Free Papermania papers and stamp from the Jubilee celebrations
Anna Griffin crown stamp embossed
CI London stamp

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day:)

Less is More week 122-colour

Hi everyone, just popped in to post my LIM card, I've been pruning my Camellia and it's so HOT out there, not that I'm complaining:) I've been quite drastic so I hope it flowers next year! Anyway back to this week's challenge which is a colour one and Chrissie and Jen want to see the:
               COLOUR OF YOUR FRONT DOOR!
Mine's blue and I couldn't find any card to match or ink and in the end found a PM that matched. I
made two cards and here they are:

As you can see my letterbox needs a good clean hence the shabby, distressed gilding on my dragonflies:)

My 2nd card uses the flourish from SU Everything Eleanor and the flower from Bright Blossoms, punched out and decoupaged.

Thanks for taking the time to visit , I'd better get back out and tidy up the mess I left in the garden!

Fenestre!

Hi everyone it's "altered dictionary" time again at the Craft Barn Alpha challenge and this time it's the letter F but with a little twist. We have to choose a word between FE and FR. Lots of choice so come and see what I went with:

I wanted to try and create a scene through an opening in an old stone wall. I covered the page in acrylic paint and then stamped some texture using a Judikins cube stamp around a little bucolic scene.
I embossed some paper with a stone wall effect EF and tore bits off and added them to the page. I'm enjoying this challenge and my dictionary is looking very interesting:)

Thanks for visiting and hopefully letting me know what you think!
