Celebrations

Hi everyone, gorgeous clear sunny day here in London but a cool breeze for the last day of summer:(
We are out this evening to celebrate my friends Ruby wedding anniversary with dinner and
dancing:D/ should be a great event.
I was inspired by a card on Jan's blog and copied her tutorial to create mine, come and see:

I created it to be from us and two other couples who, together with the celebrants have been friends for 35 years.

And this is the envelope

One of my friend's daughters got engaged  in March and the other one last weekend so that called for another card.

I made a Z fold pearlised card and the rest is embossing and dies and I will be able to give it to Kate this evening.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are having a good weekend :)

A folded "O"

Hi everyone I'm just popping in to show you my altered dictionary page for the ALPHA challenge. I'm really late this time but finally decided what to do ;;)
The letter this time is O and there are lots of words to choose from, some I've never heard of.
Anyway come and see what I chose:

I chose oriental origami and have made a kimono girl from genuine Japanese paper. The stamped images are from a Papermania set.

Thanks for taking the time to visit it's much appreciated ;;)

Less is More week 134-recipe

Hi there to any night owls out there! I'm just about recovered from a very busy weekend with lots of visitors on Saturday and Sunday and keeping up with Charlie :) Thank goodness the weather changed, it was like the end of the world here on Saturday.
Today was the first day I've done any crafting and apologies for my lack of commenting on your blogs but I have been having the odd peek to keep up :)
So here is this week's challenge at Less is More:

For our recipe this week we want you to use or make
WASHI TAPE
You can use the shop bought type or you can make your own one way or another. We know you will be inventive if you don't have any in your stash...

I don't have any washi tape, I've looked at it but haven't seen anything I particularly like and it comes at an inflated price! So Chrissie's tutorial on how to make your own was brilliant and so simple! So here is my card with home made washi tape and a gorgeous sunflower, which the very talented Loll sent me. The sentiment is by WOW.

I will definitely be using this technique again, thanks Chrissie =D>

A Dicken's of a project!

Evening everyone, phew it's warm here again but can't complain I'm just hoping we get good weather on Sunday as it's my eldest son, Dominic's, birthday BBQ :-SSAlso my darling Charlie is bringing his parents for the weekend, 3 whole days :x of fun!
Anyway the reason I am blogging this evening is a project that I have made for Dominic, who is a writer, which explains what  I have to share with you.
A week or so ago I found myself on Margie's blog and was blown away by her altered book. Totally different to the Alpha challenge that I am participating in which is an altered dictionary. I've always been drawn to old books and have picked several up over the years so come and see what I chose and the finished result.

The book is Pickwick Papers and I downloaded images of Charles Dickens, the Pickwick Club and some fountain pens. It is taking pride of place on his writing desk  ;)
I will definitely have another go at altering a book but check out Margie's blog for inspiration!

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate the time and hopefully your feedback.

Less is More week 133-theme Round and Round

Evening all, a bit late I know but there always seems to be a few night owls around  (:| This week's challenge over at Less is More is as follows:
For our theme this week our challenge is
ROUND AND ROUND
For this you may use any image which implies this movement...ie things with wheels or which move in this manner etc or in fact cards with some moving parts.
I wasn't sure what I was going to do but remembered a freebie spiral stamp from Craft Stamper magazine and while I was looking for it I came across another one from CS and my card was born :)
Come and see:

I stamped with SU Baja Breeze,River Rock and Early Expresso. I added a brad to the centre of the dial and  some piercing around the edge.  The sentiment is from my Xyron digital printer. So apart from the spiral background I wanted to focus on the centre of the phone which went round as you dialled, some of you may remember that  ;)

Thanks for taking the time to visit, please let me know so that I can visit you.

Less is More week 132-one layer

Morning everyone I've a couple of projects to share with you today, first is the latest challenge over at Less is More which is as follows:
For our
ONE LAYER
challenge this week, we would like to see
NUMBERS!
Just one would do, but you may have as many as you wish!

I don't have any number stamps, I do have a sort of bingo EF but it really needs dimension so I resorted to Craft Artist! Come and see my card:

I just added a little red glitter :)

The latest letter for the Alpha challenge is D and I chose Dance.

The stamp is an old magazine freebie and the notes are on the same sheet.

We were in Portsmouth for my son Keir's birthday  at the weekend and had some quality time with Charlie. We had a lovely meal in Fontwell on Sunday and then a walk around Arundel, beautiful town.
I'm looking forward to the bank holiday as Charlie is coming to stay for 3 days  ;)
I'm busy trying to sort out a card for Dominic, my eldest son, I like family cards to be personal so I hope to be posting his soon.

Less is More week 131- colour challenge

Morning all, just a quick post for this weeks LIM challenge which is as follows:

The first week of the month means a colour challenge and this month we have decided to use one of the fabulous inspiration pictures from Design Seeds.  We really hope you like it!
thankful tones

Come and see what I made:

I found it difficult to get a photo that showed the true colours which were SU's So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Early Expresso. I stamped using SU Everything Eleanor, one of my favourite stamp sets. I cased a card from SCS, I drew a border and masked it off and then stamped the flourish over the top. I added an extra flower as decoupage and shadow stamped the WOW sentiment. I needed a thank you card for a friend who had us over for a traditional Indian dinner on Friday night, yummy:)

Thanks for taking the time to visit

It's raining men............

Hi everyone August is a busy month for me birthday wise, I have 8 cards to make and 4 of them are for men!!! My youngest son, Keir, Charlie's dad, will be 30 this coming Sunday, how did that happen :-O and two of my friends husbands have birthdays too. One is a back cab driver and I had fun with his card and the other was a chance to use my new SU Mosaic Madness stamp set.
Come and see what I did:

I embossed black card with the Mosaic Madness EF and rubbed gilding wax over to highlight the pattern. I stamped and punched out some of the small mosaics and added a stop watch with real hands on. It is all matted onto brown card.

This is a word book that I did for Keir with a couple of photos of him inside, it was printed from a Funky Daze cd.

Finally this is for my cabbie friend using a Crafty Individuals stamp of London  inside and a downloaded street map for the front. I also downloaded a taxi image, cut it out and added his name to the number plate.

There is a new challenge blog started this week called The Male Room and it's attracted a lot of entries with the theme is anything goes. Crafty Individuals have an August challenge of Anything goes but you must use one of their products so I am entering two of my cards.

I have one more card to make, this time for my eldest son, Dom, I'm lacking inspiration at the moment so I think I'll check out the rest of the entries for ideas  :)

See you soon with a card for Less is More I hope!!
