Less is More Touch of Red

This weeks challenge at Less is More is a Touch of Red. As usual entries came in thick and fast on Saturday morning and of a very high standard! I know I shouldn't really look before I decide what I want to do but I can't resist and then there's the problem when someone else has had the same idea :(
So here I am having had a lovely meal at our local Thai restaurant and hoping it did the trick and inspired me!!
I used a free digi stamp, from I where I can't remember, and printed it twice so I could add one layer to the figure. The sentiment I printed on the computer and I added some red glitter to accent. I used red holographic peel offs to give the illusion of a mat.

I made a 2nd card using a stamp I bought in Lunenburg NS as a souvenir. I just added red ink to the roofs.
Thanks for looking :)

Less is More sketch

This week's challenge at Less is More is a sketch and a nice simple one at that. This is a favourite of mine as anyone who has read my blog will testify to, as I do like something to start me off. We were down in a very sunny Portsmouth for the weekend and that delayed me slightly in creating a card.
In the end I produced 2 cards which I was reasonably happy with.

On the first card I printed the floral background onto the card and then printed extra so that I could decoupage the flower. The ribbon is from a mixed pack of vintage ribbon that has just arrived from Create & Craft and which happened to match beautifully! I printed the sentiment onto the ribbon with my xyron and a few pearls and a feather completed the card.

On the 2nd card I stamped 2 flourishes at the bottom  in archival brown ink and the lady is an image I'm not sure from where.  I used it a couple of years ago to make a stamp from it with Imagepac   and it was quite successful and that was also stamped in brown and then glittered with bronze glitter. The strip across the middle I distressed with the same ink and added some ribbon.   The sentiment is from one of the cd boxes of stamps.
Thanks for looking :)

Less is More Masculine

MASCULINE? OMG what next!!! I'm absolutely staggered every week, not only by the standard of entries to Less is More challenges but by the speed that they are posted! There am I, having a cup of tea with James Martin, and some crafters have been up for hours and already have their entries displayed :)))
Well after some head scratching I came up with the following card but as I was about to post it I decided I wasn't sure about the angle. So I did the same again with a variation on the embellishment and I'd appreciate some feedback please :)
The stamps are from Stamp Addicts and inked with black Brilliance. Both embellishments are embossed.
Thanks for looking :)

p.s in answer to Chrissie's query I masked the head so that the music was behind.

Less is More off the page

Tried several ideas this week for the LIM challenge but they all seemed to case other people's cards! I eventually decided to use a DL card and a large digital stamp printed on the bottom. The image is normally about 5" square. I can't remember where I got it from but it was a freebie! I then stamped a butterfly above the daisies. I like this stamp as it is so plain and looks lovely when painted.  I had a sentiment that I wanted to use but couldn't find the right place to put it as it looked wrong printed in a square. Then I had a brainwave (at least I thought so ) and used my Craft Artist to print the words out in a curve to fit around my stamps. I coloured the flowers with Brilliance Aurora, which is pearlised, and just some watered down aqua for the butterfly.
Hope you like it, thanks for looking :)

Just found out that One Stop Craft challenge is a CAS card so I'm entering my card there as well.

Less is More (pastels)

The challenge this week over at Less is More is pastels. I've attempted at least 3 cards and failed dismally :(
Not sure why I couldn't do it but all my ideas went in the bin!
Then I was inspired by Chrissie's card on her blog and got out a rollagraph that I bought about 3 years ago at a craft show and never used!!
I inked up with Brilliance Peacock and created a mat with the same ink.  The butterflies I cut off from the leftovers and glittered them. A couple of pearls for the flowers and the sentiment is from my Xyron digital printer.
I'm quite happy with the result now and hope you like it too :))

Three squares

This weeks challenge at Less is More is to create a card with 3 squares. Sounds simple and so I thought until I sat in my craft room and no inspiration was forthcoming!!! I've looked at everyone else's entries and apart from plagiarism NOTHING :(
Finally I produced the following using white base card and squares of ribbed taupe card mounted on black. The flower stamp was a freebie from craft stamper and I stamped the petals of two images with small rose and butterfly from Stamp Addicts. The middle one I tried to zentangle. I added a strip of card folded over and edged with deco scissors and distressed with Frayed Burlap.A length of ribbon lies just above this although it's not showing up but the 3 black gems are sitting on it! I placed the squares on top and the sentiment was from my zyron digital printer.
I was also playing around with a Venetian stamp from Darkroom Door trying
to highlight a couple of areas with different sized squares that had some colour. Not sure if it covers the brief but I quite like it and would appreciate some feedback :)
Thanks for looking.........

Spring

The 3rd challenge over at Less is More is Spring. I've enjoyed Mandi and Chrissie's tutorials on using fonts on the card so I thought I'd have a go using my Serif Craft Artist. Using font BD Engraved Black I typed the word Love and enlarged the "o" and printed it out on a folded A5 card. I stamped a flower image from Sheena Douglass in versamark and embossed in gold. I coloured the flowers with promarkers and ghosted some grass at the base to ground the image.  A dry embossed frame and some text in a fine black liner completes the card.

Less is more Week 2 One Layer Challenge

This weeks challenge over at Less is More is to use a tree or flower image on a simple folded card.
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2011/02/week-2-one-layer-challenge.html

I used a ribbed pearlescent card in a taupe colour and stamped a papermania stamp from an oriental collection in black brilliance ink. I used cool aqua and sky blue promarkers to add definition to the flower heads and tulip yellow for the leaves. The base colour muted the true colours and I quite liked the effect. The sentiment is a Jenny Mayes one and I drew a wiggley line to pop the image.
Thanks for looking :)
Mandi thanks for the font tutorial, definitely be having a go!

Less is more

Chrissie and Mandi have set up a new challenge blogspot called Less is more:
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/
A refreshing change as it can be quite daunting to match entries in some other challenges with a plethora of embellishments! The colour brief is black white and pink and my entry hopefully meets the criteria. The pink card is core dinations and I'm not sure where the stamp is from. I stamped with black brilliance and the sentiment is from my Xyron digital printer.
I am also entering this card for the StampARTic challenge clean and simple:
