Desecrating dictionary's!!

Hi everyone, well I obviously spoke too soon, it's freezing cold and very grey here today and they're promising snow for the weekend! I hope they are wrong  brrrr..........
Anyway back to the matter in hand or rather the book. Over at The Craft Barn they have a new challenge for 2013 and it's called the ALPHA challenge. Basically it is to alter a dictionary with stamping or collage according to the letter that is chosen for that week, and this week it's V.  Check out the blog for all the details as you can choose to make a journal or tag instead. I popped into a local charity shop to get a dictionary and this is what happened:)

I had to take 2 photos as the book was too heavy to stand without me holding it and then I couldn't see the word that I was depicting. Hopefully it's fairly obvious that I chose Violin! I spread some acrylic paint over the page and started stamping. The violin, composer and music background are from Stamp Addicts vintage range and the individual notes are from an old freebie set. The words are also an unknown alphabet set. I tore and distressed some music and added it along with a heart and red brad.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and maybe leaving a comment:)

This is so fabulous Valerie, your colours give a wonderful Old World feel to the page.

Well done on your first altered art piece - feels quite weird doing something like this to a book isn't it? Great colours and theme. We're due snow and sleet down here if we believe the forecast.......watch this space!

I saw one of these earlier this week by Chris at Sketching Stamper. Such a unique way of altering a book, and for your first attempt, Val, you did a great job!
Snow forecast for us tomorrow. We're not too far from the Pennines, so we usually get some when it's about. The grittier has just been up and down our road xx
