MMM week 45 Men and Boys

A late posting this week from me as my printer is still not connecting to my laptop and it's driving me mad!! The continuing theme at MMM is still Men and Boys but this week they want to see Male sports or hobbies. I really need to use my printer for digi images but it's not playing ball and I only have one set of boys stamps, an old SeeDee set which is very limited. So I rummaged through my carrier bag of scraps and found a background paper and some seafaring images that I had printed out ages ago just off the internet.
Here's the finished result which I am quite pleased with especially as this month's sponsor is Marianne Designs and there are fabulous dies to be won:)

I distressed the edges of the BP with Stormy Sky and matted it onto black card and onto a pearl base card. I punched the ship image out and matted it onto the same BP which I distressed with Black Soot and rounded two opposite corners. The rope ladder and the cord around the compass is from when we cut down the length of a wooden blind! The anchor and the knot were cut out and mounted onto the card and the sentiment is from my xyron digital printer.
Thanks for visiting and hopefully leaving a comment so that I can visit you:)

Hi Val,
I think you've done a great job of making your card with limited supplies. I love your nifty rope ladder and compass...your whole layout is brilliant!
I don't think I have one guy card on my blog. I find them very hard to create. And I'm in the same situation as you with my printer. I was supposed to make a 16th birthday card for the daughter of one of my sons work colleagues. I hate to let people down, but I needed to print the images he asked for, and I can't:(
Hope you get yours to connect, soon xx

Your scraps collection certainly has more interesting bits in it than mine - this is a great card for the theme. There's a good reason why we never throw anything away!! Hope your printer problems get sorted soon.

Hi Valerie, Wonderful sea theme for your card, great for a chap:0) Shame about your printer:{
I did say that there was going to be a Hobbycraft and Stitches show at Bluewater but I'm afraid it's only the second time it's been held there and it's not big, in fact it's fairly small but Paper Artsy were there in Mar for the first one, good enough for me LOL I think it's in Sept, time to plan for that one then LOL Gay xxx
