Less is More week 54 one layer card

This weeks challenge for the Limettes is to use STRIPES on a one layer card. I have had lots of ideas since yesterday on how to create stripes and guess where they all are? In the bin!!! The occasional, not bad one, seemed to be the same as ones already posted and I can now see what Chrissie and Mandi meant when they said it wouldn't be easy:)
Anyway I have come up with two and I think I prefer the first, let me know what you think.

I used PM's to draw the lines and stamped the two images on top with black Memento ink. The cat is a PSX stamp that I've had since the beginning and the little bird is from SU Everything Eleanor. The sentiment is from my xyron and quite appropriate I thought!

I scored lines on this card of different widths and stamped within the first two with a very old ceedee sentiment stamp set using SU Perfectly Plum. I used a water brush to paint the narrow border and swiped the bottom with the ink pad. The round sentiment from the same set I embellished with a pink heat brad. Apologies for the poor photo quality, I love the pearl card but it always has a pinky hue however much I play with it and the ink looks different although I only used Perfectly Plum throughout.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, I'm off to check out and comment on everyone else:)

Hi Val, love your take on the challenge with both cards, but your first one is such a great idea with the PM stripes...the cat and little bird are brilliant together, too. Lots of brilliant stamping on both cards!:)

Hi Val - I found it a tricky LiM week too, immediately thought of Solid Stripes but didn't want to repeat what had already been done. Your idea is brilliant - I love your markered background and it wouldn't have turned out so neatly if I'd been doing it! Please don't let the cat get the bird! Vicky x

Valerie, I had to put a lot of thought into my cards too. I find that I do better if I don't make a visit to anyone's cards prior to getting my cards posted. That way, some else's ideas don't get stuck in my head! LOL! I love both cards, but I think the second one is my favorite!

Hi Valerie
I cannot thank you enough for the kindest of comments you left for me to read, you will make my head swell to the size of a house lol.
I like both cards but certainly drawn to the first card with the most amazing composition and so clever, especially incorporating the word Escape.

Stripes sound easy but I can imagine not so on a single layer card - you've done a great job with both of these in different ways. Love the cat and bird and your sentiment just fits it nicely.

Gorgeous cards Valerie, the first is my favourite, I love the stripes and using different but complimentary colours was a stroke of genius. The images and sentiment fit perfectly, xxx

What a funny idea to combine the cat and the bird :-) The stripes are the perfect background! I tend to forget my Promarkers - now you inspired me to use them more often again!
