This weeks challenge from Chrissie and Mandi is a one layer card and the subject is
So no layers and minimal embellishments. For once I had a couple of ideas that came together quickly and are definitely CAS!
My first image is from Vintage Catnip and it was a sheet of various birdcages from which I chose one I liked and digitally added a little bird to it. I then shaped the sentiment around the handle and coloured the image with PM's. I added the little bird from SU Everything Eleanor. I punched the opposite corners and added a contrasting paper behind to give definition to the card. I added three silver dots to the other corners.
This one was a freebie from Cuddly Buddly crafts which I coloured with PM's and added a sentiment. I embossed lines top and bottom and marked some faux stitching. Chrissie and Mandi have some wonderful ideas on their blogs and there are lots of submissions on the challenge site to whet your appetite, so why don't you have a go:)
Many thanks for visiting, your comments are much appreciated.

These are both great Valerie, I do admire your PC skills!
The second one took me back to when I was a designer for Cuddly Buddly... it seems for ever ago now! It's a cute image and perfect for a New Home card.
Thanks so much
Chrissie

these are both beautiful cards Valerie but if I had to choose it would be the second one as it is just so cute
Oh the dreaded one layer card - you've done really well with these two and that is a cute image on the second one. I seem to be able to stamp perfectly on bits of card for layering but the one layer jobs usually end up messy - why I wonder!! S***'s law I guess.
Two lovely cards Val both so different...these one layer cards aren't easy but you have cracked it...
Anne
Both are fantastic Val but the first is a real stunner! I love the sentiment and the way the extra bird on top of the cage overlaps it slightly. The hint of DP at the back is great too. Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Vicky x

Gorgeous cards Valerie, love the first one the most but the second is fab too :0) Thank you for the good wishes, my back will be right soon, silly me!! Didn't make it to the free taster for the Rock Choir, my friend wouldn't even entertain the idea when she saw the cost, not much fun alone, hey ho, happy crafting, Gay xxx
These are brilliant and found it hard to choose a favourite one! and thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog - think I will take your advice about a tag book so thanks for that too Valerie x
Two great cards Val - especially like the first one. Great one layer cards.
Both great cards. With the first I love the bird on top the cage with the sentiment going around it and the second card is very sweet. x
