Stampsmith Challenge

I've  always admired Stampsmith stamps but as yet have not got any! I cannot decide because the choice is too great! Anyway I thought I'd have a go at the new challenge and maybe be lucky enough to win one and that will start me off :) the only suitable images I have are of stamps by La Blanche and I particularly like this one. I stamped with black Brilliance and used watercolour pencils to give a slight hint of colour. I distressed the edges with Tattered Rose and matted onto some Anna Griffin floral paper and layered onto script vellum. I cut out some of the hydrangeas from the floral paper and made a flower, decoupaged some leaves and used gems and silver embellishments to finish. Hope this covers the brief.

Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge 26

I'm not very good at cutting circles so decided to alter an old cd using alcohol inks. Cut out card for the bottom half and used same inks and blinged it all up with gems. A butterfly peeloff on vellum made the topper and the base card I stamped with butterflies and distressed the edges.

Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge

This is the first time I have attempted a sketch challenge but love the Waltzingmouse blog and having a sketch to follow prompts a card! My stamp is one of a set from La Blanche which I highlighted with stickles and matted on to silver mirri. The base card was stamped with Christmas script from Stamp Addicts and embossed in silver. The ribbon is white with Christmas trees in silver and the paper flower I made hope this fits the challengehttp://waltzingmousesketchchallenge.blogspot.com/,

Bah Humbug Shades of Blue

The challenge this week is shades of blue and  I decided to try something I saw in a craft store in Canada this summer.  I masked off top and bottom of my glossy card and brayered with a Kaleidoscope pad and with black brilliance stamped fir trees (hobby art stamp) across it. I inked a piece of stampbord with the same colour and stamped the tree on top. I've highlighted with silver stickles and placed it on the card. The background is a Christmas vellum from QVC with ribbon and a knot to the side. Some gems and a sentiment complete the card.

Bah Humbug Shades of Lilac

For this card I used background paper from a set from QVC a long time ago and matted onto silver mirri. The corners were die cuts from a create and craft set and the centre band is corrugated card. The topper was stamped with Paris Mist memento ink and was a stamp from a Christmas QVC foam set. I used stickles to highlight parts of the image and some gems. The words are peeloffs on a tag from the same set as the corners. Not as lilacy (is that a word?) as I would have liked but it's not a colour I use very often!
Hope you like it

Snowflakes

The challenge at Die Cut Dreams this week is snowflakes and as a newbie at blogging I thought I'd have a go!
I dry embossed a panel down the side of an A5 landscape card and decorated with peeloffs. I created background paper using a free stamp from Craft Stamper and embossed it in white. I overlay a large silver peeloff on top of ribbon and gemmed the centre.  I used silver mirri and stamped and embossed using a small Hobby Art stamp matted and layered for the side panel. The embellishment I cut out from the remaining background paper and decorated with gems.
Hope you like it

Bah Humbug Reindeer challenge

Thought I'd attempt this weeks challenge as well, as the team at Bah humbug made me so welcome with their comments! There is a sketch book challenge over at Waltzing Mouse stamps so I have tried to incorporate the two.
Using a basic 6x6 square card I made some backing paper using resist technique and shabby shutters distress ink and tore it to make a corner. I used a fir foliage stamp that was free with creativity magazine and the same ink. I used a xmas tree light by Stamps by Judith and linked them with a fine liner.  The xmas baubles came free with Craft Stamper. The reindeer was part of a set that I bought in Nova Scotia this summer and I inked it with Memento Paris Dusk and embellished it with silver stickles. I made a flower that I saw being made on Create and Craft and finished with an organza ribbon and gems.

Fancy fold

This is the first time that I have attempted a challenge but the one at Bah Humbug interested me so I had a go!
The base card is 11" square and folded diagonally. Score at 3" and 5 1/2" from both ends of the long straight edge and fold the two inner creases towards the middle and the two outer ones back. The two outer folds need to be opened and pressed flat to achieve a diamond shape. The top folds down to shape the envelope and is scored at 3 1/2". I decorated the front with House Design paper that was free with a magazine and the topper (also free) was matted and layered onto red mirri.I used frosted lace stickles for the wings and gems for the corners. The tag was from the same set matted on red mirri and decorated with brads. I hope the fold is more obvious from the photos

A new beginning!

Welcome to my first posting on my blog! A crafty place to store and display my card making activities.
I am in the middle of attending an online advanced stamping techniques course run by Glenda from Elusive Images.
We have covered resist and masking and this week we are practising on Stampbord.
It's interesting to see how everyone else interprets the exercises and I enjoy scrolling through the online gallery.
Below are some of my attempts at the various challenges, I hope you like them.
